Still Life with Game (etching + aquatint)

A limited edition of nine intaglio prints printed from a 13.2 x 16.8 cm metal plate, out of which eight are for sale.

All the prints in the edition have the same colourway, only with minor differences due to them being hand printed. One print in the edition came out a bit more washed out than it should be, and I am offering it discounted (last image).

Description of the process: a metal plate is covered in a substance called ground, lines are engraved into it, and then it is dipped in acid. The acid eats away at the exposed bits, creating a plate with etched grooves which you push ink into and print from. The "shading" is aquatint, created by further covering the plate in resin dust and etching it in acid multiple times, with different parts of the print covered in ground each time, creating different shades.
